The League of Nations and the Need for a More Powerful Body
The League of Nations played an important role in combating the growing global wars that existed in numerous parts of the world (Ziring, Riggs, & Plano, 2005). However, the league's inability to resolve the majority of the world's crises resulted in the need for a more powerful body capable of dealing with emerging challenges such as the refugee crisis, insurgency, and nuclear weapon proliferation (Pedersen, 2007).
The United Nations and World Peace
Consequently, the formation of the UN, the World Bank, and the WHO suggest that the organizations are the most powerful and effective in preventing the global humanitarian crisis through encouraging practices targeted at alleviating human suffering that results from human and natural crises. Undoubtedly, the UN signifies a tremendously important organization that can ensure world peace through prevention of nuclear threats, refugee crises, and facilitating disarmament acts (UNODA, 2016). Most significantly, the UN secretariat, programs, funds, and agencies uphold the tasks bestowed to the organization by the UN Charter, the Security Council, and the General Assembly in situations of threats of large-scale and grievous human rights violations (Verdirame, 2011).
The Role of the World Health Organization
Notably, the organization plays a critical part in addressing the refugee crises. The WHO collaborates with the UN to deliver doctors to the UNHCR particularly in refugee crises (WHO, 2003). Therefore, WHO is important as it supplies the UNHCR with trained medics and doctors during crises (Boerma & Mathers, 2015). The organization was granted power to declare international health emergencies in 2007 (Kieny & Evans, 2013). The organization cooperates with each UN Member State to attain standard health services under the UHC, which is a strong social equalizer (Chan, 2015). Ultimately, the collaboration of the UN and the WHO can facilitate the effective management of global human crises.
The Role of the World Bank
The WB plays a critical role in its attempts to establish an economic equilibrium through offering financial assistance to countries (Marshall, 2015). The financial help from the bank assists states to address crises comprising refugee issues, starvation, health, and education, among other issues (Ruger, 2005). The WB offers financial aid to host countries that accommodate refugees (Balcilar, 2016). For instance, the organization offered financial assistance to countries such as turkey, Lebanon and Jordan (Verme et al., 2015).
Conclusion
In sum, the UN, the WB, and the WHO are significant in averting humanitarian crises such as nuclear disarmament, refugees' assistance, healthcare provision and funding states in a bid to ensure peace. The WB is the most significant entity among the three because it assists countries to address long-term developmental problems through earlier commitment, ensured presence and financial assistance to the areas affected by conflicts thus restoring peace.
