Despite its rich heritage, Cocoa, located in Brevard County, Florida, is one of the world's most underappreciated cities. According to the 2010 United States Census, the city had a population of about 17,140 inhabitants. The urban center can be found at the coordinates 28°22′10′′N 80°44′38′′W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a regional statistical area of 15.4 square miles, which is equivalent to 39.9 km squares (Arnold, 162). 34.5 km squares of the total area are covered by soil, while 5.4 km squares are covered by water. The town is also important to the citizens of the United States. According to the census conducted in 2000, the town was estimated to have 16,412 people who emanate from 6,939 households and a subsequent 4,232 families who dwelled in it. The city was found to have 2,200.3 residents living per square mile, having a total of 8,064 housing units which holds an average density of 1,081.1 housing units per square mile. The racial constitution of the region was established at 62.47% White people, 32.28% African Americans and other minority races (Gannon, 60). The city has many issues that raise it to popularity while some defame it. This research argues the merits and demerits of the city. Although there are not many people who bring this city into conversations, besides military members, I have found that this is the ideal place for me to live.

Cocoa holds some of the Americas best and scenic beaches that falls within the 72 miles on the sun-bronzed Atlantic coastline that is extensively known for their stellar waves. The beaches are ever filled with both trainee and professional surfers enjoying their moves all over the beaches in Cocoa Beach. The beaches offer special and excellent avenues for family day trips. Cocoa Beaches were outlined as the state’s top 10 beaches whereby each beach holds distinctive value and worth regarding their uniqueness and destination for various groups of people (Gannon, 70). Apart from surfing and sand-castle-building visitors in this region can intensively explore nature and view wildlife at various points such as the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Several people who have visited the area have regularly intimated of huge satisfaction from the inherent beauty of the urban area. Visitors derive monumental pleasure memorable experiences from the city. For instance, it has momentous downtown shopping district that holds multiple varieties of stores and restaurants that avails waterfront views and unique venues especial to special events, for instance, weddings and other parties (Parrish, Ada, Alma & George, 173).
The second importance of the Florida’s Cocoa city is that it holds an important and strategic military installation to safeguard the US. Cocoa holds vital small military bases in America. Some of the notable military installations in the region include Florida National Guard military base, Patrick air forces base, US air force personnel and many other military bases. The Cocoa military bases hold critical and essential foundation in cubing security threats, especially from the South America parts. The region borders some multiple nations from the south such as Cuban territory, Mexico and several other adjacent nations (Wynne, 172). Military families and communities create an ample and serene habitable environment. Many inhabitants who are part of such military families hugely feel the love and security notable in the region. The military airbase, military choppers and many other aircrafts create a memorable and unique remembrance of the region especially for people who cherish machines and aircrafts. The Mission and the military base in the region are unique from other bases that I have been stationed before. The military airbase provides an exceptional view of the Atlantic Ocean. The location in which Patrick air forces base facility is located has held multiple other uses before. During the World War II, the facility was used by the navies. It was later commissioned for both Naval and Air Operational Training Command. The facility was later moved to the United States Air Force 1948.
Thirdly, Cocoa city is centrally located allowing access to many other popular Cities. From Cocoa, it is easy to Miami which is located southwards. The two cities are 197 miles apart which indicates an average of 3 hours 9 minutes’ drive between the cities. Miami is the principal port city located on the Atlantic coast of South Florida. Miami’s metro region is hugely the eighth-most populated and fourth-largest urban region in the United States having a total population of nearly 5.5 million (Wynne, 122). The city is a crucial center for trade, finance, culture and many other things. Miami is also a beach city. Another close urban center from Cocoa is Orlando. The two towns are 48 minutes rides apart and 46.9 miles away. Orlando is closer to Cocoa as compared to Miami (Arnold, 162). Orlando is one of the worlds frequently visited by tourists and Walt Disney World is situated around 21 miles from the city. The city is strongly one of the busiest in America. Tampa is close to Cocoa city. It falls within approximate 1 hour 51 minutes to drive between the two cities. Tampa has a huge historical importance to the country and currently serves as important commercial center. It is vital financial services, retailing, healthcare and many other business operations. The economic activities of the town are gradually increasing as the population widens. It the metropolis acts as headquarters of several companies (Parrish, Ada, Alma & George, 173).
On the contrary, while smallness of Cocoa City makes it simple and easy to tour, it reduces its competitiveness globally or even in the America. With its tininess, it is hard for people to acknowledge it globally or even accord it sufficient attention (Harvey, 56). The growth rate of the city should be increased so that it can amount adequate competition to other cities thus get enough recognition. The city is also associated with the military and society wields some fear while interacting with the military people. The military people are wrongly known for the physical approach of solving conflicts (Eleazer & Kevin, 90).

In brief, Cocoa City resembles several merits as beautiful Place, a military base, and central Location to many popular Cities. The town avails ample time to viewers to access the city's historic charm. The location of the City of Cocoa assumes a central place in the Central Brevard County that reachable by multiple roads such as Interstate 95, State Roads 528 and many others making it central and important to the region. The region also has unique landmarks like the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse and Porcher House amongst many other admirable views and pleasurable scenic experiences. The city is small, and visitors easily walk in it without fears of congestions and jams as opposed to many other cities in America. It provides humble and beautiful abodes to its residents. However, its small size reduces its competitiveness and popularity.
