The CIA`s Covert Involvement

Generally speaking, covert action refers to any operation carried out in secret that has an effect on politics, society, or the economy. There is a widespread perception that events planned in secret are successful. This is the major justification for why the United States and other countries around the world make significant investments in their intelligence services. The Central Intelligence Agency in America is solely responsible for conducting covert operations that will guarantee the security of the nation. Therefore, I shall contend in this essay that the CIA's use of covert action does not result in a conflict of interest.
There are some circumstances where it is necessary to take careful action. For instance, some people seek to disseminate propaganda in order to wage war against countries. In such a case, the CIA, has to first establish whether such information is viable before the American Government takes any action. The absence of intelligence agencies would be a major blow. Countries would turn against each other easily, fighting over unsubstantiated rumors.

It is also necessary that some matters are treated with caution. The issue of terrorism being one of them. There is no doubt whatsoever, that this is a major social ill whose existence has resulted in many devastating events. Whenever the government plans on capturing some of the key profiles in a terrorist network, the job has to be carried out in a secret manner. If it was undertaken publicly, their efforts would end up in vain since the victim would only know that he is being sought after.

The intelligence agencies are also instrumental in removing ineffective leaders from power. A good example of this is Mossadeq a former prime minister of Iran. His rise to the echelons of power saw him convert all oil reserves into a national resource. This meant that the United Kingdom which had significant securities in oil at the time had to back out; a move that really irritated them. Once that had been done, the British intelligence agency decided to seek help from the Central Intelligence Agency. Their chief aim was to oust out the Iran prime minister. The move turned out to be a success thereby showing the effectiveness of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The largest ever covert action was launched in the eve of 1980 when the Soviet was seeking to invade Afghanistan. The United States secretly offered the Afghan natives more than enough armory to build a significant resistance which would keep their enemy at bay. The Soviet was outgunned despite their presence in the air. This action made it impossible for them to conquer Afghanistan and they eventually gave up and went away. Intelligence agencies are the brain child of some of the greatest conquests in history.

Undertaking covert actions does not in any way belittle the army and other law enforcement agencies. Most of them entirely support these agencies since much of their success is as a result of their intervention. On the other hand, some operations are beyond the control of the ordinary police and due to the sensitive nature of operations, they have to be carried out with precise care.

Some efforts to offer assistance, however turn out to be futile in instances where the once aided natives turn against their aides. For instance, weapons initially offered to war torn countries by some intelligence agencies end up being used against them whenever a disagreement arises. Such assistance, however, can be regulated. The agents use their influence to stop utter chaos and also to establish the potential threats.

Intelligence agencies are reputed for using advanced technologies such as drones in identifying their enemies’ plans. Due to such technology, terrorists’ plots fail to materialize and they end up being ambushed unexpectedly. Such intelligence has without any doubt managed to hinder any terrorist from happening thus ensuring that American Citizens remain safe. Some agents also manage to work their way into the enemy government unsuspectingly and are thus able to get a clear picture of any impending attack against them. intelligence always puts a country ahead of their rivals.

The CIA has done more in ensuring the safety of Americans than they can ever begin to fathom. The agents work tirelessly in ensuring that some harmful elements are not spread by people with an aim of causing harm to the society. They go beyond protecting the nation against attacks but are also key in identifying any unpleasant rudiments in our midst. Nowadays suicide bombers are apprehended before they can even set to accomplish their missions.

Since its conception in 1947, the CIA has been influential in ensuring that the government works effectively and efficiently. The agency always has first- hand information before anything happens. They have to thoroughly scrutinize an area before the president appears to give his speech. They have access to a wide range of military equipment to assist them in accomplishing their duties. Agents picked to join the team are picked through a thorough process and trained for a long period of time in order to ensure that they understand the task ahead of them. Such an agency is vital for our society to flourish, and achieve the greatest levels of success.

In case drastic events that threaten the well-being of others occur under the watch of this agencies, the government moves fast to reorganize the body as was the case after the September 9/11 attack. There were so many critics who pointed a finger at the CIA blaming them for not taken the necessary action to prevent the tragedy from happening. This shows how much the citizens rely on the agency. The agents have made it easier for the police to handle low-level criminals as they seek to quash the masterminds of major Cartels. With their help the society will undoubtedly flourish.

It is apparent as illustrated above that the Central intelligence Agency can in no way lead to a conflict of interest due its covert action. The government has a well-crafted plan which stipulates the duties of all law enforcers. They are required to stay within their league and only come together during occasions that warrant combined effort. Without intelligence agencies it would be impossible for the police to combat crime. Dealing with the enemy requires that one has some inside person for the job; one who will identify the plans being made. People are very sensitive about their privacy and therefore seek anonymity through agencies such as the CIA. It is goes beyond wishful thinking to say that the CIA is undeniably the leading institution in terms of combating crime within and outside the precincts of the United States.
