Art, as a tool, has been seen to help individuals and organizations become more employable, engaged, optimistic, and interested in contributing to the growth of their local communities. Since the mid-1980s, cultural and musical activities have played an important part in urban renewal projects. According to a report commissioned by the Australian Council for the Arts, art initiatives foster a better awareness of diverse communities, increased expertise in group leadership and administration, and a deeper sense of community identity. The Safe Communities concept evolved from successful community-based injury project in Falkoping, Sweden, in1974. The premise of this concept draws from community development models and maintains that communities are best placed to develop and implement local solutions for local injury risks. A central element of the community-based approach is collaboration among different community sectors and organizations for a common purpose

White, M. (2005). Children, trauma and subordinate storyline development. International Journal of Narrative Therapy & Community Work, 2005(3/4), 10.

Children are not strangers to trauma. In most societies around the globe the incidence of the abuse of children remains high despite many initiatives undertaken by state and community organizations to address this. And in most parts of the world that are experiencing the calamities associated with war, disease, displacement, and economic turmoil, children remain most acutely vulnerable to life-threatening hardship and trauma. Service providers who work in local child-protection services with the families of refugees, and those who work with people in those parts of the world that are ravaged by war and disease, will be acutely aware of the importance of assisting children to recover from the effects of the trauma they have been subject to. Attention to this aspect of psychological and emotional safety in working with children who have been subject to trauma cannot be too strongly emphasised (White).

Phillips, L. (2017). A narrative therapy approach to dealing with chronic pain. International Journal of Narrative Therapy & Community Work, (1).

(Philips)Acts of distraction were first described by Robert; He helped uncover the importance of distraction in diminishing chronic pain. Robert described how he would purposefully distract himself by petting his dog, Scamper, and that the time he spent distracted from pain was nearly pain-free. Robert went on to describe how he would sit with his children when they were young, holding their hands or brushing their hair. He also described how his wife could calm his pain through rubbing his back. Pain has a way of diminishing life, and this can happen in a number of ways. Sandy had undergone many painful surgeries, often involving significant amounts of recovery time. This added to daily experiences of chronic pain, limiting her ability to live life according to her plans. At more than70 years old, the experience of ageing, along with the effects of chronic pain, led Sandy to feel that life was ‘shrinking’. Each subsequent surgery caused a new shrinking of life and, at times when she was recovering from one surgery and had to undergo another, she experienced what she called a shrinking of the shrinking’.

There is a give and take a sharing leadership inherent in the shadowing process .one person follows the other imitating exactly their ongoing movement .for a while one partner leads if she turns 180 degrees, this means she has passed the lead on to partner. A new level of freedom appeared as the duets changed levels, creating pathways throughout the room and moving playfully around each other. Each pair made its own discovery with different myths dynamics and stillnesses. The women were fully engaged in their partnered excursion, sometimes curving with soft around movements other pushing through physical space with angular percussive motions. If there had been any doubt before this shadowing clearly showed the younger women that their more mature partners were very cabable of keeping with them. One of the very delightful discoveries made during working with the women groups were the ways in which the generations of women were surprised. Others have articulated the benefits of bringing together seniors and young people of various ages (Apol, Nov,1999).
