Successes of Journalistic Reporting

Journalism is the art and science of generating and disseminating news stories based on how people respond to events, information, and ideas. In every way, this has an effect on culture. Journalism's output is disseminated across a variety of channels, including print, television, radio, and the Internet. Newsreels were once a part of the mainstream. Writing is a part of news reporting. After writing the news, the reporter uses investigative reporting as a creative expression to present it to the public. Journalistic reporting has outperformed other genres such as action, adventure, comedy, mystery, horror, and self-help when presenting human fragility and powerlessness. Some of the achievements include accuracy and standards of factual reporting, and libel reporting, harm limitation and psychological responses that encourage reactive reporting. Journalistic reporting further recognizes different personalities together with the realness of entities in the fragile ecosystem. According to the fundamental principle of journalism, reports that are presented should be as accurate and precise, reflecting the actual position and situation.

Due to the accuracy required in journalistic reporting, enough time and space should be allocated to this art. These principles are well illustrated in the media ethics that govern the production of reports, news or information. Accurate reporting is applied in a broad range of field that includes but not limited to the controversial themes such as war or peace journalism and political affairs. It further looks at the circumstances that lead to the anarchy and the duplexity of the situation.

Achievements of Journalistic reporting are depicted Hiroshima and Grave Fire the Flies. Grave of the Fire Flies being a real story has been animated into an animated film depicting war when the United States tried to bomb Japan to end the second world.

The results of the bombing were devastating. It is an autobiography written by Nosaka Akiyuki who was a small boy when bombs dropped in Japan. The film starts with prologue ‘’September 21, 1945… that was the night I died’’. This prologue provokes psychological responses, a fete rarely produced by other genres. The opening death scene presents a cinematic metaphor. There is an element of accurate reporting, where Seita loses his sister due to malnutrition as a result of hunger and starvation.

When Seita loses his parents, he alongside his younger sister get accommodation at their aunt's residence.Their aunt mistreated them so much. The main topic here presented is how war changes human beings. Seita exhibits a perfect example of blind patriotism. Despite the fact that he is suffering, Seita remains loyal and patriotic to the people of Japan. Throughout the animated movie, he keeps on saying that his dad who was an army officer during the war would have his revenge by punishing the elements that subjected his country to war and ensure that justice is served. He hopes that things will stabilize and life would return to normal. Being a person who has faith in his ideas, he separates himself from the world making him a pariah.

Seita goes ahead to become a thief after vacating his aunts home together with her sister but he does not give up, he remains resilient. When his sister falls ill, he seeks medication from the doctor. The little girl is diagnosed with malnutrition.

The only hope for humanity in this story exists in the innocence and kindness of the relationship between Seita and his sister. Vagaries of the world do not corrupt children, and we see this when Seita takes over the guardianship of his baby sister although he was a child himself through taking care of the sister, we see an awareness of the separate identities between Seita and the aunt. The war then finally comes to an end. The message presented here is a strong one making people think about their attitudes upon seeing others in need. No other genre can report events in such away during a state of high human need compared to journalistic reporting.

Hiroshima narrates a story of six survivors of the atomic bomb that dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, killing thousands of people. The survivors are two doctors, two women, and two religious men.The text presents an important humankind behavior exhibited by the Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto. He survives the bombing and tries to rescue others who are wounded. He feels ashamed of being healthy while fellow humans are suffering. Later on, he falls ill and after recuperating travels to America, but faces criticism in Japan despite the humanitarian efforts he did.

Another priest, father Wilhelm Kleinsorge provides a lending hand to the victims by bringing them water to quench their thirst. He also protects them from calamities such as the rising tides, whirlwind, and fires. Mrs. Toshiko Sasaki suffers a fractured leg which becomes severely infected as she does not receive specialized treatment many weeks after the bombing, although there are two doctors; Dr. Fuji Masakazu and Dr.Terefumi Sasaki but they are unable to help her. Another calamity strikes again few weeks after the explosion. It is a sickness that has an association with radiation attack on survivors. These sufferings are too severe for the people at that time. Historically, it's one of the greatest tragedy to befall humanity. No other country in Asia faced such a calamity in the history of time. However, the people had hope that in the fullness of time things would restore back to normal.

The people are resilient; they are steadfast; they still try to bring their lives back to normaly. Dr. Fuji at the end succumbs to a sudden illness. Both Miss Sasaki and Mrs. Nakamura climb the ladder from poverty to success. They lead and enjoy a better life. Mrs. Nakamura is offered a pension and a government allowance after she worked hard and supported her family. Both Dr. Sasaki and Mr. Tanimoto opt to spend the rest of their lives aiding victims of the bombing. Mr. Tanimoto travels to the United States of America afterward, where his quest to preach reconciliation faces resistance and he is accused of being opportunistic by praising America. Japanese people accuse him of being insincere during the rising of the atomic bombing. Finally, the ghosts associated with the bombing refuse to fade away. Lives of the people continue to be threatened by the effects. They are subjected to more and more suffering but they keep living in high hopes. However, in the aftermath of the war; the six survivors show a sense of goodwill, pride and reconciliation.

Effects of war, therefore, can be portrayed through various text as seen in the film animation. When such calamities face humanity, they resort doing different things as a way of seeking solace. They remain faithful and believe in their ideologies, however desperate the situation may be. The authors of both the story and the animation use the texts to achieve a particular objective. They both convey the intended message. The texts in which the stories are carried evoke some emotions. They cover a vast audience, though their medium varies. Grave of the fireflies has been animated into a film wherus Hiroshima is a story in a book.Valuable lessons on humanity are learned from these two stories.
