The journal article addresses Racial/Ethnic discrimination and fitness by reviewing different empirical pieces of proof from studies. The findings indicate that there is a relation between discrimination and poor health reputation especially mental health. This journal article focuses on perceived discrimination as a stressor that adversely affects health status of the victims. This medical journal has extensive lookup and data about macro stressors, acute and chronic discrimination which show the unfavourable effects of discrimination on an individual’s health. However, one disadvantage of this journal is that it does not cover the measurement of discrimination and its effect on a person over the life course. This source is valuable as it explains that exposure to racism leads to the poor health status of the victims which is a viable reason for America to stop racism.

The article shows that the non-white individuals have mostly been subjected to different types of individual and institutional racism and that racism is a significant stressor that affects a person’s well-being such as poor coping strategies and psychosomatization. The paper sheds light that most people understand racism only in terms of social inequity but not in terms mental wellbeing. The article contains numerous data about racism being a stressful experience and stress is directly linked to a person’s health and points out that there are six types of racism-related stress. This paper is useful to show why America needs to eliminate racism because of the various health negativities related to racism as a result of stress.

The column focuses on the economic impact of racism giving an insight of how different policies which promote racism made the country and individuals encounter financial difficulties. Moreover, the column explains that the people do not accept that racial discrimination happens despite it evidence. The African Americans were discriminated from owning houses and land taken from them by the government through predatory lending practices. High taxes were imposed on the minority races, and during the great recession, wall street profited while the minorities paid the price. The column further explains that jobs are not enough to eliminate economic problems facing racial minorities in America. The article captures crucial aspects that explain America is made up of the society with the minorities included, and racism or any other form of discrimination does not only affect individuals but the society as a whole. The information from this article is beneficial as it points out the setbacks racism brings to a nation.

The American Psychological Association article explores the health effects of racism on people in American especially the African Americans. The article puts forward the fact that the African Americans are affected health wise by racism making them develop personal stress. Studies from the article indicate that stress was prevalent in people of color among other chronic diseases. The American Psychological Association article explains that racism creates a daily stressor for the African American as they have to deal with the numerous forms of racial discrimination on a daily basis. This article is very useful as gives the contribution to impacts of racism health wise which is not widely covered by many sources. Many sources only capture impacts of racism on socioeconomic contexts.
