Moon Jae-in, South Korea's president, was born in January of 1953. He is a former student protester and politician who is now the President of South Korea. Moon took over as President of South Korea after the resignation of the previous president, Park Geun-Hye. Nonetheless, Moon worked as party chief in the Minjoo Party of Korea, a secretary to the then-president Rho Mu Ryun, and a member of Korea's 19th National Assembly. Despite becoming the incumbent president, Moon ran against Park Geun-Hye in the 2012 polls, narrowly losing to Park. Aside from being a leader, president Moon played a significant role as a human rights attorney by defending and championing for the rights of the laborers as well as the students who were charged with violating various rules meant to govern their activities and relationships with one another and the organs overseeing their operations (Boykoff). Despite being in the leadership position for a relatively short period, Moon's presence and roles as the president have played an integral part in the achievement of various accomplishments in varied fields such as the economy, education as well as care for animals. Although the choice to cancel the plans that were already underway about the construction elicited mixed views as the contractors viewed the move as shambolic as they incurred losses as well as they are uncertain over the next adequate progress about the stalled plan (World Nuclear).

Being at the helm for a relatively short period has not barred president Moon's will to eliminate the problem caused by unemployment and the minimum wage rate for the workers in South Korea. For instance, president moon through the National Assembly passed a supplementary budget amounting to nearly ten billion dollars to aid in the creation of jobs for the members of the public. Moreover, the president has taken adequate steps towards his promise during the electioneering period with regards to raising the minimum wage of the workers to nine dollars per hour (Ferrier). As a result, he has engaged in negotiations with key stakeholders in the government. Moreover, he has initiated the blind hiring plan to ensure employees are hired on fair and equitable opportunities rather than based on some pre-informed basis.

There has been a remarkable growth in the export levels under the short tenure under the leadership of president Moon. The extraordinary growth in the country's growth domestic product by 0.6 in the second quarter. The improvement in GDP is attributable to the measures put in place such as increasing capital gain taxes and tightening the loan regulations as well as the enactment of the debt write-off program (Ferrier).

Educational reform

Upon president Moon's election, he initiated the plan to scrap off the government-authored History textbooks as they were insufficiently critical of the county of North Korea (BBC News). Relations with the United States

As President Moon promised during his election campaigns with regards to ensuring a sound and peaceful coexistence with the neighboring countries, he started his tenure by fulfilling some of the promises as he took the initiative to discuss business relations with the United States of America (The White House). As highlighted, President Moon paid a trip to the United States in a bid to make business ties with their counterparts in the U.S in an attempt to not only foster business relations but also to ensure a peaceful coexistence. As underscored, both president Trump and Moon engaged in in-depth discussions over diverse factors such as the Korea nuclear plants in a bid to make improvements on the environmental standards in the world (DW).

Relations with North Korea: President Moon reiterated his plan to ensure the existence of peace between the two neighboring countries. As a result, different measures to ensure the stalemate between the two countries and their respective citizens is resolved with ease and in a swift manner (Boykoff). The need to provide a peaceful coexistence played an integral role in the decision to ban the government-authored books that insufficiently criticized the northern Republic of Korea a fact that did not augur well not only with the president but also with a majority of people.

In conclusion, president Moon Jae-in short tenure has underlined a period of remarkable activities as far as the prosperity of the country of South Korea is concerned. The president has played an integral role in ensuring the safety of animals such as dogs from the harsh treatment directed toward them such as electrocutions as well as slaughter for meat. Besides, the president has moved to ensure the existence of a safe environment about shifting from overdependence on nuclear energy to deducing ways of utilizing natural gas prospects. The economy of South Korea has grown by a slightly more significant margin in the second quarter under the leadership of president Moon.
