The results from the test reveal that I am an ESTJ-A. However, I have a mixed view of the categorization considering am feeling it is not totally consistent with my personality. Despite the notions of inconsistency, I consider the MBTI instrument reliable considering the majority of scores of personality type highlights my preferences for interacting with other people. I agree that I am an extrovert, direct my energy towards senses and in addition, I hide my feelings thus thinking in nature and driven by thinking rather than feeling (www.myersbriggs.org, 2018).
Another description that I concur with is that extraverted individuals tend to be very social and get very excited by social involvements. Extraversion comes with a tendency to prefer a highly interactive social life. They prefer to spend their idle time with friends and family and get very energized by taking part in social activities. The assessment is in harmony with my outgoing nature and attraction towards social events. I spend weekends and holidays out with friends and family and have a high preference for social activities such as parties and tours. In addition, I easily gel well with any social gathering however strange its composition may be and I often find myself starting conversations even with extreme strangers.
On the second level of psychological preferences pair of sensing and intuition, I am in agreement with the test results that I pay more attention to information coming through the five senses rather than from information that I receive. According to Barrett (2009), sensing individuals lay concentration on physical reality based on what they see, hear, touch, taste and smell. The type of people believes that experience matters more than words and they learn best by seeing how to practically use what they are learning. This is in line with my character as I approach problems through analysing facts and build using them towards finding the solution.
The third preference pair is around the approach towards making decisions. It brings a separation between those that put more weight on personal concerns and the people involved that may be referred to as 'feeling' approach as well as those that emphasize on impersonal facts and objective principles. The results from the test depict a thinking personality, a characteristic I admit best suits my approach. regardless of the situations facing me, I find myself seeking for the basic truth when making a decision. Other than being consistent and logical in arriving at decisions, I always take time to analyse the pros and cons of every possible alternative that I may take. I easily spot inconsistencies and believe that the truth is more important than being tactful. In addition, and in congruence with the test result, people find me so indifferent and uncaring.
Despite having answered all the items on the instrument to the highest honesty level, I do not agree with some indicators. The trait that I do not think concur with my personality is the last letter in the code-the J. The fourth letter is deduced from the fourth dimension-judging or perceiving. People may be either more flexible and have an adaptable lifestyle thus perceiving or be more structured and preferring a well-decided lifestyle therefore judging. I believe that I am not judgmental, as I do not display an overly critical point of view. Although the test suggests that I have a judging personality, I do not think I use my decision-making preference in my outer life. I often use the perceiving function and seem to favour a flexible and spontaneous way of life. I remain open to respond to spontaneous happenings and exert all my energy and vigour in accomplishing tasks. These character traits make me believe that I am more perceiving than I am judging (Kruckeberg, Amann " Green, 2011).
