My Career My Choice.

My Drive to be an Educator

For me, the drive to be an educator has been a lifelong process. It's the culmination of a lot of thought on what kind of impact I want to make in my life and what kind of legacy I want to leave. Teachers are highly respected in Vietnam, my home nation, for their role in influencing young people's minds and contributing to our country's well-being. My inspiration for becoming an educator stems from a desire to be the difference I want to see in the world.

Overcoming Challenges as an Educator

As a developing world, we face many challenges. A language barrier is one example. English is valued as a medium of communication yet few are fluent in it. Upon completing my studies and attaining qualification, I would like to go back to my country and help children familiarize themselves with it. As a shy person, I have first-hand experience in appreciating the difficulty faced in speaking another language and have other people judge me because of my accent. To me, this serves to reinforce the fact that I have the ability to influence the education process and make it better than I found it. While at it, I hope to achieve satisfaction as an individual and a professional.

Inspiring Role Models

I have had an opportunity to interact with many teachers here like Dr. Liang who have provided me with motivation as heroes and role models as I study. Many of them have demonstrated skills that I admire to have and utilize. They are my heroes and heroines. Such teachers have shown me how to: explain content, be firm without intimidating students, set high expectations, be fair, be patient and make learning fun through humor. They are also able to communicate and have command in the subjects they teach. I appreciate such teachers as worthy examples to be emulated. Nonetheless, I recognize that my ability, knowledge, values, skills, and experience will shape the teaching style that will define the type of teacher I will eventually become.

Creating a Supportive Learning Environment

As an educator, I want to create an environment in which children feel safe and wanted. This will boost their self-value and propel them to work hard to achieve their set goals. My role will be to help them within the framework of the syllabus and also as a good role model. I will do so using all the skills and tools that are preparing me for that role such as inclusive and collaborative learning. In future, they will be useful members of society and I will feel honored that I played a role in creating a change.

Preparing for the Role of a Teacher

In my studies, I have paid regard to all units that are critical in developing my goal of becoming a teacher. We have studied units that teach on class management, child psychology, teaching methods, lesson preparation and communication skills that are vital for both classroom and outside interaction. During my placement at Ancilliae Assumpta Academy and at J.S Lowell, I have managed to put much of the theory learned into practice through preparing lessons, teaching pre-schoolers and observing classrooms. My love for children, the education, and experience that I have gotten in this country make me positive that I will be a successful teacher anywhere I find myself.

Influencing the Present and the Future

In teaching, I will have the opportunity to influence the present and ultimately the future. Although I appear shy, I am an idealist who will go the extra mile to ensure everyone succeeds. This makes me set high targets and I will do my best to help learners realize that they can achieve them. The reality that I will be handling very young learners makes the challenge more appealing to me. I will make my children love learning in such a manner that develops their curiosity, wills them to search for answers, enables critical thinking, and develops their ability to read and write. Once children acquire such skills, they will become better in rationalizing and successful in their studies.

The Importance of Being an Outstanding Teacher

An outstanding teacher performs various roles that go beyond the normal class routine. Such an individual makes students feel inspired. Inspiration serves the purpose of making one believe in themselves, their abilities and the truth that all is within reach for those who try hard enough and are persistent at it. The theory we have covered offers the sequence of lesson coverage and the expected outcome. If a lesson ends and a child is there who has not understood, it is expected that a concerned teacher would go out of their way to help such a learner. My intention is to be such a teacher. The learner's difficulty will be my difficulty and their success my joy.

The Responsibility of an Educator

To be an educator comes with responsibility. It is a noble calling and a challenge. Many have failed to live to expectation and have ended up shaming themselves, their institutions and their nations. In many places, children tolerate school because they lack choice. The teacher is ever teaching and the children ever listening but hardly learning. This is seen in the problems many parents face at home with minors who show little or no indication of attending school. Teachers need to be competent in teaching class content and life skills. A student's personality and ethics are a crucial aspect of an individual far greater than the knowledge imparted in class.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, children are social beings and a classroom is a social set up. I will use my future position as a teacher to develop an all-rounded child who will be a reflection of good character and a representative of the vision of my country.
