EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Confidence is a very important value that most people admire to have or develop (Schuldt & Chabris & Woolley & Hackman, 2017). Basically, the term confidence refers to the belief or feeling that one has on something or someone. It can also be described as a belief or feeling that you can accomplish or succeed in something. Generally; most people refer to confidence as the act of being certain about something/someone (Schuldt & Chabris & Woolley & Hackman, 2017). Some of the words that are used as synonyms for the word confidence are certainty, assurance, determination, morale and sureness. Based on the definitions above, it is safe to state the fact that confidence is important when it comes to achieving or succeeding at different objectives or duties. In reference to different sources that were used in the research paper, there are different ways through which one can be able to spot a confident person.

Some of the characteristics that can be used to identify a confident person is the fact that a confident person does not care about the opinion of other people (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). He or she is self – independent and believes in their choices/ideas. It is also important to note the fact that a confident person is someone who has set their own personal objectives and goals, they do not blame other people for their own mistakes. A person who lacks confidence does have self-conscious. They cannot be able to control their feelings and emotions (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). Confident people display composure, they do not panic or get frightened easily. They can be able to control their feelings without any fear. It is also important to note the fact that confident people are not jealous, they celebrate with others whatever the outcome. Basically, this means that whether they are on the losing or gaining side, they will always celebrate. Lastly, confident people are very decisive and speak with firm authority (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). As the wise men put it authority comes with experience, knowledge and confidence. In summary, this research paper will help to discuss some of the strategies through which one be able to develop on their confidence.

INTRODUCTION

As mentioned earlier, confidence refers to a positive belief or feeling that you have on someone or yourself (Schuldt & Chabris & Woolley & Hackman, 2017). Generally, in order to complete on this paper, there was a need to use several study methods of research. Some of the main methods that were used to complete on this paper include; content analysis, case studies and archival research. In a lay man’s language, archival research or analysis involves the use of primary sources that are stored in the archives to gather or acquire new information. However; it is important to note the fact that archival sources exist in several forms such as records, documents, manuscripts and records. On the other hand, a case study refers to an up – close or detailed examination about a certain subject or topic.

Lastly, content analysis is a method of research that involves the study of artifacts of communication and study documents. Basically, content analysis was very important when it came to gathering of information that was is the form of videos, audio and pictures. Generally, it is safe to state the fact that completing on this paper would have been difficult or impossible to accomplish if the research methods above were not used. The background of the research is quite obvious, this paper was written originally so that it can enlighten the reader on different ways through which they can be able to develop and build on their confidence. By the end of this research paper, all the strategies through which one can be able to boost and develop their levels of confidence will addressed and discussed in detail.

BODY CHAPTER

LITERATURE REVIEW

In reference to the sources that were used in gathering information, there are at least more than 10 methods or strategies that can be used to increase the level of confidence among different people. Before the paper embarks on describing and detailing on some of the strategies, it is important to note the fact that the success of each of the methods or strategies used depends/varies from one individual to the other. Practically, this means that one strategy may work or give positive results while the other may fail. Regardless, since this is a research paper and not a personal one, all of the applicable strategies that relate with confidence will be discussed in detail.

The first strategy that can be used to build and develop on confidence getting to know oneself better (Douglas, 2016). Generally, this means that one has to understand their strengths and weaknesses, they should also analyze and get to know what is great about their life. When we look at this strategy, most scholars and a number of sources approve the fact identifying personal strength is very important in achieving confidence. It is also important to note the fact that every Human being is talented in something, at least everyone can be able to achieve or do something better than the other person.

For instance, one might be skilled or talented in co-curricular activities such as football, basketball, singing or swimming but they do not know. As a result, due to lack of self – understanding some people may never develop their full potential or skills due lack of confidence. In reference to the current World today, people are making a source of living out of different activities. It is quite safe to state the fact that there are very many people who are enjoying the benefits of their different abilities and skills.

The second strategy involves believing in oneself and paying less or no attention to the naysayers (Douglas, 2016). Believing in oneself is something that is very important when it comes to building and developing confidence. A good example that can be used to prove on this fact is that based on a case study that was conducted last year, it was found out that most of the people who do not have self-confidence did not believe in themselves. Basically, they did not believe they could be able to achieve certain things. After they undertaken through a process of having faith and believe they were able to accomplish most of the things that they could be able to do initially.

In reference to the case study research, it was also found out that the main reason as to why most people do not believe in themselves is the fact that they pay attention to naysayers. In a lay man’s language a naysayer is a person who gives negative comments about the doings of other people (Newman, 2017). Generally, it is important to note the fact that one cannot be able to believe in themselves if they pay attention to what others say about them. The only way that they can establish believe is by ensuring that they pay attention to what they believe in. Generally, when we look at this scenario, it is safe to state the fact believing in oneself and caring less what other people say is a very important strategy in developing confidence (Newman, 2017). It is one of the core primary strategies that are important in confidential process.

The third strategy that can be used to develop on confidence is killing negativity and speaking with confidence (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). Humans are very unique beings. In reference to this strategy, it was found out that a majority of people care about the opinion of others. Basically, this means that in case people start talking negative things about a person, the chances of that person being affected by the negativity are very high. For instance, an individual may be mocked by his friends or strangers with words that may affect their confidence. A good example that can be used to prove on this fact is that people may end mocking an individual that they cannot be able to achieve something whereas they can be able achieve it much better.

Speaking with confidence is also important in that it prepares one psychologically so that they can be able to achieve different objectives or tasks successfully (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). In reference to this strategy, it has being established that most of the people who are not confident when speaking are not confident in real life. They lack confidence while performing most of their activities or duties. Therefore, it is important to note that in order to develop confidence, one ought to kill any negativity that surrounds them. They should speak with confidence as it plays an important role in developing their minds psychologically.

Taking control and learning extra facts and information is also important in boosting and developing confidence (Douglas, 2016). According to different scholars and sources, it was found out that one of the main reasons as to why most of the people are not confident is the fact that they do not have control of their life. A good example that can be used to prove the validity of this point is the fact that most children at an early age are not confident and depend on their parents and friends because they have not taken charge or control of their life. Basically, the benefits of taking control in one’s life is the fact that one is able to build on their confidence (Douglas, 2016). It also helps one to be mature and have a sense of responsibility. It is important to note the fact that we have one chance to live and no one else is going to live your life. The sooner you take responsibility of your life.

Scientifically, it has also been proven that the advantage of acquiring or learning new information is important in the sense that it helps to boost or develop one’s confidence (Douglas, 2016). According to scientific scholars and sources, it has been proven that most of the people who love reading and dedicate most of their time in learning different new things are much more confident than people who do not like learning. In reference to this scenario, it has also been proven that it is a Human character to be confident after learning new information. Basically, this works in the sense that one becomes confident since they have acquired new information which other people do not have (Douglas, 2016). Therefore, it is safe to state the fact that taking control of one’s life and acquiring new information is an important strategy when it comes to developing or boosting confidence.

In reference to the research, it is also safe to state the fact that thinking positively and holding one’s head high is important in developing confidence (Altaman & Machin & Bryant & Gardner, 2013). Generally, this strategy campaigns for the application of positive thoughts so that one can be able to achieve or succeed in tasks and objectives they thought they cannot be able to achieve. Based on the information that was collected from the research, it is quite evident that most of the people who are confident can be linked with positive thoughts and ideas. It is also important to note the fact that in case one is positive it shines on the outside. A positive person can easily be differentiated from a negative person.

Based on the research, it was also found out that negative thoughts play an important in decreasing one’s level of confidence (Douglas, 2016). For instance, negative thoughts are responsible for creating a situation where one does not believe they can be able to accomplish and succeed in something. Holding one’s head high is very important in the sense that one can use their posture for their own advantage. In reference to this strategy, most scholars agree to the fact where lifting and pulling up one’s shoulders is important in developing confidence. They is also a suggestion that walking with a purpose contributes in one way or another (Newman, 2017). For instance, most confident people are not afraid of doing their activities in the public. They walk broadly with no fear, this contributes to their level of confidence. Most people who are not confident cannot be able to lift or either pull their shoulders. Secondly, they cannot be able to walk broadly, confidently and with a purpose. Physically, this is one of the ways through which one can differentiate a person who is confident or not confident.

The last strategy through which confidence can be developed is by saying yes to praises, exercising not bragging (Newman, 2017). People who do not show or rather say yes are very confident. Basically one should be thankful to others. Secondly, exercising is important in that it gives one energy, it also helps in completing one’s enthusiasm. It is quite safe to state the fact both a confident person is most likely energetic and enthusiastic. Secondly, exercise is also important in that it gives one the feeling of confidence (Newman, 2017). On the other hand, bragging has a negative impact on one’s life in that people may create a negative attitude on you. This kind of negativity is likely to impact on one’s confidence. The following are images that give extended facts on how confidence can be developed.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

In conclusion, confidence is a very great value that determines the life and direction of most people in the World today. Many have succeeded or failed due to confidence in one way or another. Some of the main strategies and methods of developing or boosting confidence has been discussed in the essay. They include; belief in oneself, minding less about the opinion of naysayer, accepting praises, exercising and not bragging. In case one applies the strategies mentioned above, they are likely to be more confident than before. Generally, I would like to recommend this piece of research paper to the school and its staff for providing the materials that were used to complete the essay. Lastly, I would also recommend that people heed in to some of the strategies that have been discussed. It is likely to impact their lives positively.
