Introduction
Media is a networking outlet used to store and distribute content. It plays a role in shaping society by illuminating, informing and mobilizing people by print, print, photography, broadcasting and publishing.
Role of Magazines in Media
Magazines became part of the mass media. A magazine is a monthly publication published on a daily basis comprising a variety of contents. Each kind of magazine has its target readers (Ludovico 202). For eg, in my case, the most preferred ones are military material, defense operations, and leadership magazines, since I am interested in working within the security industry as a leader.
Front Page Design
The front page of a magazine is a design work geared to market the magazine and provide readers with a healthy and exciting sense of identity. The potential buyers are thus drawn into wanting to read it, driving sales up. Flashy covers are containing appealing pictures which readers can identify with their preferences. The front pages usually have jokey pictures of celebrities, profile articles of politicians, romantic fiction, questions, horoscopes, and highlights of what is inside. Latest news concerning celebrities and their lifestyles, gossips about the most controversial stories, films, television, and other fascinating things about people that are well known also are included. For example, Entertainment Weekly (EW) is an American magazine having the following in the first pages; Must List, First Look, the Hit List, the Hollywood Insider amongst other highlights.
Popularity of Entertainment Magazines
The popularity of a commodity on sale is usually measured by the uptake in the market. The more the sales a good makes in the market, the more the assumed popularity. Entertainment magazines have become more popular than even news magazines because they bring along what many people want to hear. The entertainment magazines are mainly gossip centered on which everyone is seeking to keep abreast with. The magazines also offer people an excellent chance for relaxation away from the severe lifestyles they lead (Berry 61). Readers encounter news of celebrities who have made it big somewhere and would want to feel like they would be the next in line thus the tendency to read such news. The entertainment industries keep on changing rapidly with new things coming up. Usually, the most rapidly updated magazines include the entertainment ones. It is thus not a wonder that this category who want to keep abreast buy them in high scores thus the popularity (Berry 102). Magazines delivery and trends have undergone changes to engage readers over a variety of platforms to make magazines remain relevant.
Strategies for Promoting Entertainment Magazines
Marketers of entertainment magazines use strategies to promote their popularity. Because of a shift from analog to digital platforms of information dissemination, many people have mobile devices through which they access the content. The magazine marketers strategically develop websites with digital content integrating them with social media. Readers quickly access content. They also embrace video content as people use much more time watching videos rather than reading (Ludovico 150).
Conclusion
No matter the type of magazine on offer, or which of them is popular than the other, the role played by the magazines in media and communication cannot be downplayed. People should be encouraged to develop habits to exploit this platform. (523 Words).
