Jim Kennedy: The New Mayor of Philadelphia
Jim Kennedy won the general election in Philadelphia in 2015, which generated conflicting reactions. He had pledged to control the city's taxation in order to affect economic growth. In the debate, Kennedy is referred to as a genuine person who was successful in becoming the new mayor of Philadelphia after defeating five other contenders. Melissa Murray was his biggest foe. Jim Kennedy was hailed as the new mayor of Philadelphia following Michael Nutter's resignation following press statements. Kennedy was a part of the New York City mayor's campaign, and the national Democratic Party chose him as their candidate and continued to promote his political aspirations. Though some citizens in Philadelphia opposed him, the majority needed Jim Kennedy as their Mayor and this motivated Kennedy to give a speech after press announced him as a winner. He encouraged his supporters and assured them victory in November elections (Williams 19).
Mixed Opinion on Kennedy's Policies
Mixed opinion resulted from many contesters who were in need of Mayor Position in Philadelphia. Each candidate had individual policies which were promised to be implemented after the polls. Jim Kennedy emphasized on the prosperity of Philadelphia city and asked his people to be open minded and participate in upcoming general elections after they won primary polls organized by Democrats. Great things were promised in Philadelphia city, and this influenced mixed opinion (Kennedy 327). Some citizens attended rallies organized by Kennedy downtown and the message from Kennedy was appealing. Kennedy emphasized on unity, and this made him more popular. Mr. de Blasio was given the mandate to endorse Kennedy as the new Mayor in Philadelphia. Personally, I consider Jim Kennedy as the best Mayor, and I support his policies, which made him win elections. As the Mayor of Philadelphia city, developments will prevail, and the city will be favorable to all citizens. Kennedy was to ensure taxation is done fairly to favor economic growth in Philadelphia.
Supporters and Oppositions
Jim Kennedy had a strong coalition which was supported by the majority in Philadelphia city. Kennedy's policy stance targeted to improve excess governmental spending and regulate the taxation done by the city council in Philadelphia. Kennedy targeted to positively impact the city economy support small enterprises to expand their business operations in Philadelphia. Kennedy was supported by family members who motivated him as he conducted rallies. Former council members rejoiced to hear the progress of Kennedy in the political field and hoped his political stance would favor all citizens (Kennedy 327). Other supporters of Jim Kennedy were black elected officials, some environmentalists, and advocates who catered for human rights.
Mixed Opinions on Kennedy
Mixed opinion topic is relevant to Jim Kennedy. African-American contestants needed to get support from African pastors in the city and this challenged Kennedy's rallies. Kennedy's opponents described themselves as independent and ignored Kennedy who was an ideologue democrat. Most of the educated individuals in Philadelphia city supported Jim Kennedy, and they spread his policies through social media (Kennedy 327). Debates between William's supporters and Kennedy's supporters dominated social media outlets in 2015, and different opinions were hired. As a result, Kennedy was determined to change status quo. He needed to reduce taxation rate in Philadelphia city and ensure all business activities are conducted in a favorable environment.
