The education system in the United States is one of the most advanced in the world, with the country boasting a plethora of prestigious institutions. Nonetheless, recent years have highlighted the sector's need for expansion and modifications. As a result, it is critical to identify areas of interest in the education sector that need to be improved. With President Obama's election came sensible measures aimed at easing the challenges caused by the current educational institutions. Despite this, the system appears to be on a downward spiral (Lynch, 2015).
Apparently, all parties are needed to handle educational development concerns. Immediate interventions are needed in saving this dying sector of the economy and also in improving service delivery and quality (Yanushevsky, 2011). My points of contention in this regard would be summarized into five as listed below;
Parent/ guardian involvement
Congestion of schools
Effect of technology on education
Need for diversification in education
Improvement of quality offered
There has been little to no involvement of parents and guardians in the education sector. Most decisions have been left to teachers and students. Most schools have more learners than their capacity. Also, technology has brought challenges to teachers. Also, there lacks diversity in education with most schools offering preparation for white-collar jobs. Then there is the issue of skills where most students leave schools without applicable knowledge (Reimers, 2013)
Accordingly, I came up with the points bearing in mind their direct effect on education and its quality. I believe that if they are addressed adequately, there shall be a significant improvement in the type of education provided in our schools. There is need to emulate other well-performing education systems globally and configuring them here as a way to be globally relevant (Schleicher, 2011).
