Due to the isolation of the age groups which made us more influential than our parents, my growth and socialization have differed from that of my parents. In terms of their familiarity with many aspects of modern life, our parents have fallen behind due to the development of education and modernity. We, the younger generation, are learning more quickly than our parents did thanks to the availability of technology. While our parents rule the society, we value our independence (Furze, Savy, Webb, James, Petray, Brym, Lie 2015, p.531). As a youth, I would like to create the world closer to my aspirations and heart image which rebel against my parents thinking.
In the modern days, there is little socialization between the parents and the youth particularly if the parents are working class. However, we tend to socialize more on social media as well as in school. Moreover, this becomes difficult to learn more from our parents thus creating that disparity between the parents and us. Additionally, we obtain our first system of norms, values, and beliefs from these social media which is different from our parents (Furze et al., 2015, p. 518). The difference extended even in the political socialization where the turnout of people participating in the electoral process has declined due to the disagreements between the old and the youth generation. \n
