Book review of A Laughing Place

The Art and Psychology of Positive Humor in Love and Adversity

The author of "A Laughing Place: The Art and Psychology of Positive Humor in Love and Adversity" proposes a new theory of laughter but then supports his assertions in a really good way. He accomplishes this by saying that B'er Rabbit was saved by comedy when he was in a really tight situation. He argues that the positive humor is typically available to every person who encounters adversity, demonstrating how to use humor effectively. This is supported by the new theory of laughter, according to which, everyone who encounters adversity can laugh. This makes sense, in my view, this makes sense because it is usually very difficult for a person to have a positive humor if one has not encountered diversity.

Different from Scholarly Work

This book chapter is basically different from scholarly work because the explanations and arguments found in here are not very straightforward and they can leave a reader requiring to dig more in order to get the exact point. A good example is found in this book chapter where this book alternates form, a serious to playful humor. The main reason why a person can be funny and lack a sense of humor are that, positive humor and making a joke are not one and the same thing. In my opinion, sense of humor is that perspective which one takes to all of life and the performance employed to prompt that perspective while being funny is just triggering amusement or basically laughter.

Articles of Confederation (1777) 1781-89

POL 101CLASS
Articles of Confederation (1777) 1781-89, was that constitution which was governing of the coalition of the thirteen independent and autonomous states which was styled as, United States of America. The external or internal threats which were mainly facing the new nation were that it was not authorized to have its own militaries, other than militants. This is because it was very difficult for a weak central government to make a military. The relationship among states affected money and commerce in a negative because one state could have a one trade law while another state has that law which totally annulled the drive of the other states law. The impact of Shay’s Rebellion had on states were that this rebellion showed that the articles of confederation was very weak and was providing a lot of power to the individual states and failed to provide enough power to the federal government. The constitutional convection happened from May 25 to September 17, 1787, and it took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Virginia plan was to favor the big states and the small states were to be favored by the New Jersey plan.

The Great (Connecticut) Compromise

The Great (Connecticut) compromised the nettlesome matters of representation and slavery. When the constitution meant when it promised “a Republican form of Government”, was that it was going to guarantee each and every state protection and there was not to be an application of executive or legislature against domestic violence. Meaning of the doctrine “Separation of Powers” in reference to the Constitution, referred to a government of constitution with three branches which were different and each would have demarcated the capabilities to check the powers of the others. The doctrine of “Checks and Balances” as it applies to the Constitution can be defined as those powers which are deliberated on the three government branches by which each limit the others from exerting excessive power. 1787 was the year that the Constitution was adopted as the United States government and it declared the recognition of all individuals including women to fundamental rights.
