Once, Aids was thought to be a disease that only affected gay men. This idea was the initial impediment to the fight against the disease. Members of the public, together with politicians, separated the LGBT community in the belief that doing so would assist to reduce the disease. Second, the LGBT community continued to engage in risky sex despite the fact that the majority of their friends became ill with the unknown sickness. Finally, the state government failed to move quickly enough to assist in raising the funds needed to combat the AIDS epidemic that was spreading in secret. Drug use has also increased. Finally, the medical staff due to failing were neglecting the aids patient and did not want to treat them.
Qn2.
I do believe that Aids could have been controlled. It is because the doctors who discovered that the disease could be transferred to other people other than gay were reluctant to share the information with the public. Furthermore, when the first case of the disease was discovered the medical staff could have acted fast to prevent the spread. More so if the government could have provided funding for research on time all this could have been controlled. The doctors were negligent and took blood from men having sexual relations with other men despite the fact that the diseases were prevalent in gay people.
Qn3.
It played a major role in the fight against aids. Those who advocated for the rights of the gay people fought hard for the general awareness of the diseases. More so they initiated a funding to cater for research as well as the treatment of those already infected with this mysterious illness.
Qn4.
Currently, HIV/AIDS is an accepted part of the USA public health concerns, and the citizens are fully aware of its spread as well as infection. It is no longer a gay disease but it public understands that it can affect anyone.
Qn5.
There has been a positive story about the disease in the 21st century. The government of the United States in 2009 passed a bill, which increased federal funding for treatment as well as care of individuals suffering from the diseases. This was good news to more than half a million people.
