The study of company practices and regulations pertaining to contentious issues such corporate social responsibility, governance, bribery, fiduciary duties, discrimination, and insider trading is known as business ethics. This article addresses the moral dilemmas that occur in the corporate world (Hartman, DesJardins & MacDonald 85).

The Impact of Ethical Issues


The way employees are treated and how the firm operates are both impacted by ethical issues. The company has a set of objectives that it must accomplish. By developing the rules that are used to guide significant decisions, HR plays a critical role in the success of the company. This is significant for the establishment of standards, which is important for business. Studies have noted that the failure or the success of any business depends on the business ethics. The various activities that happen at the same time need the coordination so that the set goals and objectives are realized (Shaw & Barry 69). The appropriate measures set will ensure the progress and growth of the business through the creation of a better working environment to all so that they can work hard to achieve the set goals.

Required Policies


In this scenario, the TechFite Company requires the policies so that the set goals and the objectives are attained. This is crucial especially in the resolution of the problems that are present in the company. These problems are; the company failure to deliver the promises which included the support of the youth programs, the sponsoring of the community events, and the investment aimed at the rebuilding of the city of Dellberg through the environmental responsible techniques. Another problem is the limited budget allocation to the employees who work full-time. This resulted in the limitation of the hours for the full-time employees so that the majority of them can work as part-time. On the other hand, the excess bonus is paid by the company to those who are the top executive. The moderation of this difference in payment is a good idea that could probably help in the provision of the benefits to the full-time employees. This will benefit the company because more employees will be recruited as full-time employees. The policies created will lead to more acceptance of the company by the public. Studies have indicated that the policies are important in the protection of the rights of an employee and also the interest of the investors and the stakeholders of the company (Hartman, DesJardins & MacDonald 85).

Types of Policies


Policies need to be made and implemented in the attempt to solve these problems. Several policies can be created by the HR. First is the Objection and Protest Policy. This will cover the issues that the employees are not comfortable with, especially concerning payment. The complaints that arise in the company concerning the operations are handled. This will make the employees satisfied through the creation of a better working environment through the empowerment culture in the company. The issues experienced in the second issue above regarding the benefits to the employees will be handled by this kind of policy. In this case, the employees who receive the least amount of wages will be able to raise their issues. The part-timers can also raise their issues so that their conditions can be raised to meet the full-time requirements.Another policy is the Payment Policy. This policy will especially handle the excess bonus which is paid to the top executive so that the issue of the limitation of hours will be handled for more full-time employees to be recruited. This will create more funds for this goal to be attained. This will empower the employees to attain their goals and therefore maintain the culture of the company since the bonuses are moderated and not eliminated. This will ensure that all the employees from the top ranks to the least benefit and work harder to attain the goals.Lastly is the Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. This policy will deal with the first problem mentioned above, ensuring that the company is involved in community helping activities, such as supporting youth programs among others. This will make the company actively involved in helping the public so that the culture of providing services to the community is maintained. This involvement will help in winning the likes from the public. The rebuilding of the city will create employment for the people and empowerment to the employees. The policy will ensure the social well-being of the people and the studies have indicated the corporate social responsibilities to be those that ensure the community well-being is considered. This targets the community that the business operations are based. The culture of the company ensures the community welfare is maintained. This will also ensure that the promises have been kept.The stakeholders need to be engaged in the process of rebuilding the city so that they can give a proper plan on how this can be done and the methods of doing it. This will help the company to do its responsibilities towards the public. The youth can be helped by their leaders who will ensure that the youth are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge so that they can support themselves, others, and their families. The company should work with the environmental conservation groups which will ensure that environment-friendly techniques are utilized. This will help in the protection of the environment and consequently benefit the society.In conclusion, business ethics are important in ensuring the progress of the business so that growth can be attained. This is seen through the empowerment of the employees who are protected by the policies present in the company.

Media Ethics Case


The ethics of a certain company provides the ethical issues surrounding the activities and productivity of the organization. This analysis targets the marketing and distribution, the production, and the sales and consumption of the products of the company. The guiding policies set by the company will guide the practices of all the employees and even the employers (Weiss, 2014). The ethics will govern the activities within the organization through the providence of the guidance in the operations. This ensures that a better working environment is created through the principles guiding the activities of both the employer and the employees so that the objectives that have been set by the company are attained (Sykes 184). The ethics officer of the company provides and ensures that the procedures of the activities concerning the ethics are adhered to so that a good relationship is maintained and the reputation of the company is kept. The officer ensures the preservation of the responsibilities and the rights of the employees who will feel more comfortable in their working environment. Studies have shown that the protection of the rights of the employees in a company will lead to the progression and growth of the company because the employees will attain the goals and the set objectives of the company (Ferrell & Fraedrich 115).

Employer-employee Rights and Responsibilities


In the scenario of the media auditing firm, the rights and duties of the employees need to be provided. This is governed by the ethics which guide the work of the employees. Some of the rights and responsibilities of the employees include; first is the provision of the materials and items to be used in the training session. This session will expound more on the ethical issues in the workplace and is specially offered by the ethics officer. Secondly is the strict attendance of the annual training program on ethics. This is ensured through the formation of the signing documents that will lock out those who do not sign. These training will provide information on the ethics in the company regarding the objectives. Lastly, all the employees have the right to equal treatment without discrimination. This ensures that the employees are treated equally without discrimination and have the right to report to the ethics officers in cases of discrimination.The employees have an obligation in the provision of the items to be used in training conducted by the ethics officer. This is given to those who are newly employed in the company. This is an obligation to the employees who are trained to provide the items to those who are new in the company. This obligation makes the training more interesting, and the activities will be done consistently without time wastage. The ethical issues that surround the company are handled by the employers through the use of the most probable events or use of other companies as an example to create a picture similar to what is faced by the employees. The events used will have the probable methods of solving the problems that can be employed by the same company. The employees are also given a chance to provide the probable solution in the forum which will then be evaluated by the employers.

Dealing with Ethical Dilemmas


The media auditing firm faces ethical dilemmas, one being the spread of a story of the involvement of the employer in a corruption scandal. Some claim that it was a setup by another media company to destroy the company. The employer is undergoing investigation by an officer in charge of the case. This presents an ethical case if the employees should consider the story of their employer and wait or if they should take up the story for publication.The action taken should be considered because if they publish the story, their employer might sack them and they will lose their jobs. If the firm decides not to do so, then they are not doing a proper job. In either case, the story has not been proven right or wrong. Studies have shown that the use of the utilitarian perspective as an approach in the decision-making process is of importance in the reduction of bias (Carroll & Buchholtz 76). The auditing firms in this case have to consider the cause of action deeply so that there is no bias in their actions. This will ensure the maintenance of their reputation concerning the quality of the information being given to the public. According to the utilitarian perspective of satisfaction to many, the story will not be published, and the employees will have to face the consequence of failing to publish their story.A different case is a dilemma that involves the personal objectives of the employees. The ethical violation arises from their failure to attain these set goals. Some will be involved in bribery and corruption so that they can attain a set goal. The majority will even steal from the company. Some will even violate their working time because some of the periods of their working hours are committed to their specific activities. This will cause the development of a poor relationship with their employers.Another scenario is at the individual level where the junior employee is sexually harassed by the senior. Many other cases of dilemmas are presented in the company with the course of action being hard to tell except at critical thinking. The juniors in many cases fear to report their problems so that they keep their jobs due to intimidation from those involved.In conclusion, ethics are important in every company to guide the responsibilities of the employees and the employers so that the correct thing is done at the right time. This will maintain the relationship between them leading to better work output. The decision-making is therefore crucial for all those involved so that this relationship is kept.
